What makes you want to be an entrepreneur?

Entrepreneurs don’t always know what they want to do, they just want to start a company – that’s entrepreneurial drive in its purest form.

What is entrepreneurial drive? Entrepreneurial drive is the inherent motivation a few people have to make something happen. Entrepreneurial drive is the energy that pushes a founder not to give up in the face of failure – and may lead to success.

Why do some people have entrepreneurial drive? Founders want to have an impact on their surroundings – being self-driven is the only way to make it happen. Entrepreneurs want to make the world a better place and they are impatient to make it a reality.

How is drive used? Entrepreneurs use their drive to design systems, manufacture products and orchestrate the services needed to get an offering to users. People have a certain purpose of life and get entrepreneurial drive by recognising customer need.
"Intrinsic motivation – the drive to do something because it is interesting, challenging, and absorbing” – Daniel Pink, author
When does drive appear? Drive usually appears accompanied by the determination to get things done, rather than the assumption that it is impossible to get anything done. Entrepreneurial drive gives preference to innovation in business, nonconformity, proactive disposition, self-efficacy and achievement motivation.

Who has drive? Successful entrepreneurship requires determination, autonomy, connectivity and an abundance of skills in planning. People who have physical strength combined with perseverance and mental strength combined with self-discipline have the drive to succeed.

Where is drive important? Entrepreneurial drive is a prerequisite to starting up companies, but it’s also crucial to bringing it to fruition. Entrepreneurial drive forms part of the purpose that provides the motivation and energy to get things moving and to convert a vision into a viable brand in the market.

All my life I have wanted to start something. On several occasions, I have started something, and now I have started this blog. Do you have the drive to start a new company? Have you already started one – what was the drive that made you do it? Please share in the comments section.
