Talents you need to build a business

Your most important talent is recognising your own or other’s talent.

What talents are needed in entrepreneurship? Talents are strengths and the routine and structure to prioritise those strengths. Talent is linked to personality that determines the motivation people have in certain areas and the resilience to be good at it.

Why focus on talent? One of the most important talents is to know how to develop strategies to utilize a collection of skills to do outstanding things. Talent is an attitude towards personal and team intelligence, as well as the social intelligence to get help if you don't have the talent for something.

How to identify talents? Strength is about being agile. Everybody is good at something and sometimes an individual’s talent only become apparent when the context requires it. Some people seem to have a plethora of talents. They are good at identifying their own talents and putting themselves in a position where they can use them.

“We will achieve greatness only through an enormous amount of hard work over many years.” – Geoff Colvin, journalist

When should entrepreneurs focus on talent? Talented entrepreneurs seem to do things they have no experience in doing with the utmost ease. Setting up a new venture is not always about having skills, but rather about having the guts to try something and then improvising. After trying something, smart entrepreneurs can verify where their talents lie.

Who has talent? It is a common belief that talent is something you are born with, which is then enhanced by your surroundings. Talent is motivation, fuelled by innate skills, and a willingness to pursue those skills and the opportunities given.

Where are the people with talent? When designing a business, the ability to identify your own talents makes you talented. Talented people act as catalysts: starting with their own talents and then building a team to do the rest.

Some of my talents are quite obvious, even to me. Others I have had help to find, and it has been a pleasure to get to know them. What kind of strengths do you think are needed to start a new company? Please share your thoughts below.
